Lewis Hall Completes Transfer from Chelsea to Newcastle
Lewis Hall has completed a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Newcastle United for £28 million – with an additional £7 million in potential add-ons – on Monday, 1 July.
The 19-year-old defender made his mark during his loan spell with the Magpies, making 22 appearances and scoring twice in the 2023-24 season.
Hall, a lifelong Newcastle supporter, expressed his pride and excitement about continuing his journey with the club in a statement released via the team’s official website.
“When you pull on the black and white shirt, there is no feeling like it and playing in front of the best supporters in the country is extra special for me,” he said, acknowledging the warm welcome he has received from the fans, staff, and teammates.
Having joined Chelsea’s Academy as an Under-8, Hall rose through the ranks to become an English Premier League player and an England Under-21 international.
He made his first-team debut for Chelsea playing against Chesterfield in January 2022, becoming the youngest player to start an FA Cup tie for the club. Hall’s performances earned him the title of Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year.
Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe, praised his new signee’s talent and attitude, stating his excitement about continuing to work with the young player.
